Hello and welcome KCU junior football!
We cater to boys and girls ages 4 to 14, from our First Kicks programme for the younger footballers through to teams that play in Capital Football’s Saturday competition.
We emphasise sportsmanship, participation, and fun. We want our young footballers to enjoy themselves as they improve their skills and become great team members.
Registrations for 2017 are open. Click here for more info.
What grade is my child?
Registration is based on the age your child will turn during the calendar year (for example: if the player turns 7 during the current year, they play 7th grade). The rules are different for girls – see below.
Capital Football prefers that all players play in their correct grade. Any dispensations must be approved by the junior committee.
First kicks (4-6 years)
This grade plays every Sunday morning at Mazengarb Park from 10.00am – 11.00am.
7th – 14th Grade, Kapiti league
These teams are organised after registration day. For the younger grades we try and keep them with friends, if requested. They compete every Saturday and play between Otaki and Paekakariki, depending on the draw from Capital Football. Training days are decided by the coach.
If you child is playing in this league, they will be contacted by their coach prior to the season starting. Please be patient, as it takes some time to get all players into their teams and appoint coaches.
10th – 14th Grade Premier teams
These are the top junior teams which play in the Wellington division. The teams are picked from trials which are held pre-season. Players that do not make these teams will go into Kapiti league teams.
Girls have the option of playing in mixed or girls only teams. Your preferred option can be indicated on the registration form. Whether a girls only team is available will depend on the number of girls interested in each grade.
Note that girls can play down a grade (for example: if the player turns 9 during the current year, they play 8th or 9th grade).
